Biography
Optometric Physician William Pedersen was born and raised in Knoxville. He graduated from East Tennessee State University and received his doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry in 1974. After graduation, he immediately began his successful optometry practice in Maryville. He fell in love with Maryville and has practiced there for over forty years.
Dr. Pedersen practices adult and pediatric primary eye care, including routine examinations for glasses and contact lenses; surgical pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery; and ocular disease management including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, injuries and infections.
Dr. Pedersen has served on the board of directors for the Tennessee Association of Optometrists. He has held the position of President for the East Tennessee Optometric Society and the Baptist Eye Institute advisory board. He is active in the community and a member of First United Methodist Church. He has a passion for all things football and is a proud member of the Vol Navy.
