Optometrist Michael Kolarik earned his undergraduate degree from Birmingham Southern College in 1975, and his doctorate from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1979.
Although born in Maryville, Dr. Kolarik grew up in North Canton, Ohio, with stops in Scottsboro and Birmingham, Alabama before returning to Maryville after Optometry School graduation. Dr. Kolarik has practiced optometry in Maryville for 36 years. His focus is on his practice and patients, but he does find time for enjoying the Great Smoky Mountains, reading science fiction, and traveling when time permits. He and his wife Janet are members of New Providence Presbyterian Church in Maryville. Their daughter Annie is a third year medical student at Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.
Dr. Kolarik practices adult and pediatric primary eye care, comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contact lenses; surgical pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery; and ocular disease management including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, injuries and infections.
Dr. Kolarik has been a member of the American Optometric Association, Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians and East Tennessee Society of Optometric Physicians.
